Last night, a horrible scene developed in the WHL involving Kelowna Rockets forward Ty Halaburda being hospitalized after a hard hit.

The junior hockey season is nearing its end as the playoffs are under way and the Memorial Cup tournament approaches.
One team fighting for a spot in the Memorial Cup is the Kelowna Rockets who are currently in the early stages of a competitive series against the Everett Silvertips.
In the third period of game 2, tragedy struck as Rockets forward Ty Halaburda took an awkward hit and immediately fell to the ice.

The trainers and medical staff immediately took the ice and began working on Halaburda.
It was eventually decided that Halaburda would need to leave the ice via stretcher and be taken to the hospital.

Shortly after the game concluded, the Rockets released a statement confirming Halaburda was conscious and alert but would remain in the hospital overnight for observation.
An additional update was made this evening, announcing that Halaburda remains in the hospital for further testing from medical specialists at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett.
Our thoughts go out to Ty Halaburda’s family, friends, and teammates during such a difficult time.
