Former Captial Evgeny Kuznetsov stretchered off after scary injury in the KHL

Former Washington Capitals star Evgeny Kuznetsov was involved in a terrifying incident that led him to be taken off the ice on a stretcher.
Since leaving the NHL, former Capitals forward Evgeny Kuznetsov has found a home in the KHL in his native country of Russia.
Over the last two seasons, Kuznetsov has been one of the best players in the KHL and this season led his team Salavat Yulaev to the KHL playoffs.
Unfortunately, last night things went wrong for Kuznetsov has he suffered a terrible injury after a big hit playing against Lokomotiv Yaroslavl.
Evgeni Kuznetsov stretchered off the ice after massive hit leads to terrible injury
During yesterday’s playoff matchup in Game 3, Kuznetsov was taken down by a late blindside hit into the boards.
Immediately after being hit, Kuznetsov collapsed to the ice and was attended to by medical personnel.
The trainers decided a stretcher was necessary and a visibly emotional Kuznetsov was placed on the stretcher and transported off of the ice.
Evgeny Kuznetsov left Game 3 on a stretcher after Alexander Polunin's hit near the boards.
To this point, an update has not been provided on Kuznetsov’s health or what his road to recovery will look like going forward.
At 33 years old, it remains uncertain what the future holds for Kuznetsov’s career but hopefully he will be able to go out on his own terms and retire feeling good instead of due to injury.
Our thoughts go out to Kuznetsov’s family and teammates after what had to be an emotional and difficult night.
