Ahead of today’s game, Alex Ovechkin shared a special moment with Penguins star trio of Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang.
Over the last week, retirement rumors have hit an all-time high surrounding Alex Ovechkin and today his actions continue to indicate the end is near.
Ovechkin is in Washington for his potential final home game with the Capitals against long time rivals the Pittsburgh Penguins.
With Ovechkin’s future filled with uncertainty, the Penguins took a moment to celebrate with Ovi if in fact this is their last meeting.

During warmups, Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang sought out Ovechkin and gathered for a picture together.
A classy gesture from Captain Sid allowed for a historic photo to be taken that will likely end up in the Hockey Hall of Fame some day.
The picture of this foursome not only represents the history between them but an entire generation of stars for hockey fans in one photo.
After the four players gathered, Crosby took a moment to get a solo picture with Ovechkin before the two sides went back to their preparations.
Crosby and Ovechkin embody the sport of hockey over the last two decades as fans who grew up watching them have not known the league any other way.
While it remains to be seen if Ovechkin actually does retire everything continues to point towards this being his final season.
If this is it, today will be a sad but historic day in Washington that all hockey fans should be glued to the television to enjoy one final matchup between two of the game’s greatest players and teams.
