Winnipeg Jets Sign Promising Young Forward Nikita Chibrikov to a Multi-Year Contract Extension
Tonight, according to multiple reports, the Winnipeg Jets have signed Nikita Chibrikov to a multi-year extension.
This offseason, the Winnipeg Jets have made a conscious effort to rely more on their younger players giving Nikita Chibrikov, Brad Lambert, Colby Barlow, and others ample opportunity to impress and potentially make the NHL roster.
Chibrikov in particular has been impressive for the Jets playing well during the preseason and remains in contention for a spot on the opening night roster.
Even without a guaranteed spot in the Jets' lineup Chibrikov has reportedly done enough to convince the team he can be impactful long-term as he has signed an extension.
Winnipeg Jets Sign Nikita Chibrikov To A Multi-Year Extension
According to an announcement from Chibrikov's agent Dan Milstein he has signed a two-year extension to remain with the Jets for the foreseeable future.
Chibrikov is coming off of a season where he put up 18 points in 30 games despite dealing with injuries throughout last season.
Even without a full NHL season under his belt and some injuries issues Kevin Cheveldayoff and the Jets seem to be confident that Chibrikov will be a key contributor to their success at some point in the near future.
Now, with Cole Perfetti out what seems like long-term Chibrikov could have a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the Jets lineup early in the season.
As the regular season approaches all eyes will be on Scott Arniel to see if he uses Chibrikov right out of the gate or takes a more patient approach.
