During the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2025, Mark Scheifele lost his father, and now, he's thanked the hockey community for its outpouring of support. Last season, the Winnipeg Jets got through round one of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but in the second-round, they fell to the fierce Central Division rival Dallas Stars in a tight, hard-fought series. The story of that series however was Mark Scheifele, who showed incredible strength and determination to play on in the series, despite losing his father during the matchup with Dallas. Unsurprisingly, the hockey community came out in full support of the Jets veteran, who clearly felt it when he scored a goal in that game in honour of his late father.
Scheifele thanks the hockey community for their support
After arriving at Jets training camp ahead of the 2025/26 season, Scheifele began his interview by opening up on the emotional ride that he went through during that time, and thanking the outpouring of support that he has received. I just want to say, I really wanna say thank you to the guys in this room, obviously my family, my friends, all the guys in the league that reached out, the organization and especially the fans. The support that I had and my family had at the end of last season was amazing, and it just shows how great this hockey world can be.

Loading from Twitter ...

When the news was announced, there was nothing but support from Jets fans and neutral fans alike, with everyone in the hockey world coming together to show Scheifele and his family how beloved they are. Now, this simple gesture from the veteran forward goes to show just how much it all meant to him and his family, with the talented forward clearly grateful for how much everyone supported him during what may have been the toughest time of his life.
