The Edmonton Oilers have taken the ice for training camp and Connor McDavid is playing alongside a pair of newcomers. The Edmonton Oilers made several changes to their forward group this offseason leading many to wonder what their lines will look like going forward. As the Oilers took the ice, Group 1 has headlined by Connor McDavid and as the team began line rushes and alongside McDavid were two new additions to the organization. <h3>Two New Additions to the Edmonton Oilers Get an Opportunity With Connor McDavid</h3> With training camp underway, lines for the first practice of the season have been released and Connor McDavid was seen skating with David Tomasek and Andrew Mangiapane. <div align='center' class='pl20 pr20'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/tonybrarotv/status/1968712765884752263'><div style='border:1px solid #CCCCCC;border-radius:10px;padding:20px;width:300px;'>Loading from Twitter ...</div></a></blockquote></div> <div align='center' class='pl20 pr20'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/geneprincipe/status/1968713736388034944'><div style='border:1px solid #CCCCCC;border-radius:10px;padding:20px;width:300px;'>Loading from Twitter ...</div></a></blockquote></div> Mangiapane will be a player that many Oilers fans are more familiar with as he spent 7 season with the Oilers rival Calgary Flames before heading to the Washington Capitals last season. Now, at 29 years old, <a href='https://www.nhl.com/news/andrew-mangiapane-signs-2-year-contract-with-edmonton-oilers' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>Mangiapane has signed in Edmonton</a> looking to get back to his prime version of himself. <div align='center' class='pl20 pr20'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/edmontonoilers/status/1940243833088090432'><div style='border:1px solid #CCCCCC;border-radius:10px;padding:20px;width:300px;'>Loading from Twitter ...</div></a></blockquote></div> <div align='center' class='pl20 pr20'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/domluszczyszyn/status/1940262784006332519'><div style='border:1px solid #CCCCCC;border-radius:10px;padding:20px;width:300px;'>Loading from Twitter ...</div></a></blockquote></div> As for Tomasek, he is a relatively unknown commodity having not played an NHL game despite being 29, but Tomasek was one of the best players in the Swedish Hockey League last season and showed potential to be an NHL difference maker. <div align='center' class='pl20 pr20'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/bob_stauffer/status/1943310919855157627'><div style='border:1px solid #CCCCCC;border-radius:10px;padding:20px;width:300px;'>Loading from Twitter ...</div></a></blockquote></div> McDavid, of course, in the past has not needed a lot of help to be an elite level player but placing him with an unknown commodity like Tomasek immediately could be a major risk. As training camp continues on, it will be interesting to see if McDavid sticks with Mangiapane and Tomasek or if Kris Knoblauch and the coaching staff continue to try new combinations going forward.
