Yesterday afternoon, the Jets placed David Gustafsson on waivers, and he has cleared and will now report to his new team, the AHL's Manitoba Moose. NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has reported that Jets' David Gustafsson has cleared waivers as no teams have claimed him, which means he will now report to the AHL's Manitoba Moose.

Loading from Twitter ...

Friedman also revealed that no other players were waived around the league today, following Gustafsson being the only player to hit waivers yesterday. Gustafsson, a second-round draft pick by the Jets in 2018, has been a reliable, defensive presence in the team's bottom-six forward group. In 108 career NHL games, he has registered a total of 16 points.
David Gustafsson Hasn't Played in the AHL Since 2021-22, so This Demotion is a Big Blow for Him
The 25-year-old forward last played in the AHL in 2021-22, where he registered 30 points in 47 games. Now with the Moose, Gustafsson will be able to take on a larger role and expand on the measly 8:59 of average ice time he had in the NHL. This is definitely quite a demotion for Gustafsson, which leads to an all-time low in his career after playing only a total of 149 NHL games for the Jets. He has jumped up and down from the AHL's Manitoba Moose and the main roster in the NHL, so at his age now, he was certainly hoping to carve out a regular role and be consistently in the NHL, which unfortunately is not the case. It's difficult to see where this leads, as he hasn't had the ability to establish himself as a full-time NHL player quite yet, and the Jets appear to be running out of patience. Let's see what Gustafsson can do to prove himself to the Jets that whenever a spot opens up in the bottom-six, he will be the first one called up.
