The Oilers appear to have found their depth scoring fix, and he's been under their nose the whole time, as David Tomasek can fill in for some key needs.

David Tomasek played two years in the OHL for the Belleville Bulls between 2013 and 2015. His junior career came to an untimely close when Andrew Mangiapane's Barrie Colts ousted Belleville in the opening round of the playoffs.
Mangiapane scored two goals in the game-seven decisive contest. Tomasek then said goodbye and became a ten-year European league-hopper, developing his craft and hoping another opportunity would arise to return to North America.
Almost a decade afterward, the two players are teammates on the Edmonton Oilers. Tomask was awarded his NHL debut against the Calgary Flames, earning his first career point in the process.
For the 29-year-old Prague-born player, it was a fair return on investment after years of dedication and sacrifice abroad.

David Tomasek's Net-Front Presence Will Allow Him to Accumulate Many Points This Season

The Oilers put Tomasek in an excellent position to be a factor, employing him as the net-front presence on one of the best power plays in the NHL.
In his debut game, he accumulated most of his even-strength minutes with Isaac Howard and Adam Henrique, and the underlying metrics were excellent.
Natural Stat Trick has Tomasek at 76.92% Corsi, 100% shots-for percentage, and 91.29% expected goals-for rating, quality numbers for a rookie.
If Tomasek can match the 5v5 production that Henrique and Mattias Janmark supplied last year (about 15 points) and contribute another 15 on the man advantage, a 30-point season is waiting for him.
Matching last year's contribution of Corey Perry would make his signing a sleeper success story in Edmonton.
There are no promises in an 82-game season, but the potential is there. If Tomasek keeps forcing play and contributing on special teams, his odyssey from Europe to Edmonton can be one of the Oilers' best depth acquisitions in years.
