After 12 seasons playing in Europe, most recently for Farjestad BK in the SHL, undrafted centre David Tomasek officially signed in the NHL this off-season, inking a deal with the back-to-back Western Conference Champion Edmonton Oilers. The 29-year old veteran was a late bloomer, but now, given the Oilers need for depth down the middle, he may be given the perfect opportunity to compete for a roster spot with this team in 2025/26. When discussing why he signed with the Edmonton Oilers Tomasek credited GM Stan Bowman for convincing him that this was the right opportunity to have his first shot at playing in the NHL. I would say that it was maybe the personal contact with Stan Bowman and the team, we've been in touch for some time now, not just last year. They also came down to Sweden and wanted to introduce themselves, and we had a good chat about it. And I liked the idea about the team having a chance to skate with Leon and Connor, also is a great motivation to be around these best players, I would say, in the league.
