Tonight, the Edmonton Oilers have announced that they have placed defenseman Jake Walman on injured reserve after he missed the team's opening game.

Heading into the regular season the Edmonton Oilers have been dealing with some injury issues including injuries suffered by Jake Walman and Zach Hyman.
Earlier today, reports confirmed that Hyman will be out until at least November after being placed on LTIR.
Now, an unfortunate update has been given on Walman's health as well as the season gets underway.

Edmonton Oilers Place Jake Walman on Injured Reserve After Preseason Injury

After recently signing an extension, Jake Walman was expected to be a big part of the Oilers defensive group to begin the year.
Sadly, he suffered an injury during the preseason game directly following his extension and was going to be out for an unknown amount of time.
Now, the Oilers have announced that Walman will be placed on injured reserve and be out for at least a week.
While the move does set off some alarm bells it is reportedly a temporary move to create the salary cap space necessary to bring Jack Roslovic on to the roster.
With the move, the Oilers will be without Walman for at least one more game before being eligible to come off of injured reserve.
At that time, the Oilers will have to make a move by either trading someone or placing a player on waivers to clear the cap space necessary to activate Walman.
As more information is provided on Walman's return and the Oilers plans to fit under the salary cap we will pass that news along to you.
