Connor Hellebuyck had a fantastic season in 2024/25, but ahead of the new season, he's taking a look back at the post-season failures of a season ago.

In 2024/25, Connor Hellebuyck was the NHL's best player, as evidenced by the fact that he not only won the Vezina Trophy as best goaltender, but the Hart Trophy as the NHL's MVP as well.
However, the Stanley Cup Playoffs didn't go their way, as they just escaped against the St. Louis Blues before being dominated in the second-round by the Dallas Stars, another Stanley Cup Playoffs disappointment.

Hellbuyck looks back on a disappointing post-season run

Unsurprisingly, Hellebuyck isn't making any excuses for the Jets failures, as he called the season a failure after they failed to be the team hoisting the Stanley Cup at the end of it.
"Our consistency was there all year long, our confidence was there all year long. Then we got into the playoffs... it didn't go perfect for me, but I had some stuff going on. You battle through it, you learn (from) it.

Unless you win the Cup, it's a failure."

While Hellebuyck struggled at points, he admits he felt confident with the way he was playing, but ultimately, those big losses and bad games in net ended up costing the Jets the most.
"I know there were a couple bad games in there goals-against wise. But if we take those out of the picture, I felt like I had a good playoffs. It's just those big losses are going to make everything else seem so much worse."

Ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, the Jets and Hellebuyck are confident once again, with the team starting to build consistency that could end up with a Stanley Cup.
"You just see a huge improvement and a lot more consistency in our game. Looking at that, I was really excited. Myself, personally, I'm part of that. I'm building consistency within our system."

Ultimately, this is a team built to go deep in the post-season, but until that happens, there will always be doubters, so expect the Jets to have another fantastic regular season as they look to build towards something special again.
