Quinn Hughes played well on a bad team last season, and now he reveals the injuries that he played through in order to give the Canucks and their fans some hope. Last season was a wild ride for the Vancouver Canucks, and in amongst all of the drama that took place, the team also dealt with plenty of injury issues, especially to captain Quinn Hughes. The biggest injuries he battled through came around the time of the Four Nations Face Off, which led to plenty of drama in its own right, and now he's explained to Elliotte Friedman exactly what happened.
Hughes reveals the injuries he battled through in 2024/25
During the interview, Hughes opened up on the obvious brace he had to wear during a hand injury, all before he took an elbow from Evgeni Dadonov that gave him an oblique tear as well. It was frustrating because I tore a ligament in my hand in December, and I played with a cast in January. The cast was amazing. I was able to play with that, and I was playing really well. As he was dealing with this injury, Hughes revealed he also suffered an oblique tear at the end of January. Then I got elbowed by [Evgenii] Dadonov against [the Dallas Stars on Jan. 31]. I thought I got the wind knocked out of me. We got the MRI and had the oblique tear. Somehow, he managed to play through all of that, and despite missing some games, he was still good enough to put up 16 goals and 76 points in just 68 games played for the Canucks. Now, Hughes appears to be healthy heading into the new season, and if the new pieces in Vancouver can click and everyone stays healthy, they'll be a team to watch in the wide open Western Conference.
