After being injured during a skate on Friday, the LA Kings have now announced that Corey Perry will miss 6-8 weeks after undergoing successful surgery. The past few days have reportedly been a whirlwind in Los Angeles, as the team held a skate on Friday just days before the 2025 training camp officially opened. Unfortunately, in the process, new off-season signing Corey Perry reportedly went down with an injury, as he had to be assisted from the ice in a wheelchair, suggesting some type of knee injury.
LA Kings confirm Corey Perry injury and surgery
Now, the Los Angeles Kings have confirmed that the 40-year old veteran has undergone successful knee surgery, meaning that he will miss between 6 and 8 weeks for recovery.

Loading from Twitter ...

Even in the worst case scenario for his recovery, the Kings will have Perry back just over a month into the 2025/26 regular season, and while it's not the start to the season they were hoping for, it's nowhere near as bad as things could have been when this news broke. After losing to the Oilers again in 2025, the Kings looked to steal a key piece of that Edmonton team when they signed Perry in the off-season, as they look to bring his grit and hard-nosed style to a team that's already full of exciting young talent. Unfortunately though, his Kings debut is now likely to come in late October or early November, and while he's expected to get back to 100%, there may be fears that this could effect his entire season, especially at 40 as he looks to get back to the Stanley Cup Finals once again in 2026.
