Report confirms Quinn Hughes had become frustrated with Elias Pettersson before blockbuster deal
New reports indicate that before the blockbuster trade of Quinn Hughes to the Wild, he had started to grow frustrated with now-ex teammate Elias Pettersson.
Quinn Hughes was finally traded by the Vancouver Canucks after weeks of speculation, though he was traded to the Minnesota Wild in the Western Conference despite being heavily linked to either the New Jersey Devils or Detroit Red Wings in the Eastern Conference.
Now that the Quinn Hughes era has officially gotten underway in the Twin Cities, reports are emerging that the now-ex Canucks captain wasn't happy with the work ethic of Elias Pettersson.
Per analyst Patrick Johnston, the two drifted apart, with Hughes had gotten frustrated with the work ethic, or lack thereof, of Pettersson.
But beyond that, sources have said Hughes and Pettersson have generally just drifted apart. As important Hughes was in supporting his teammate last season, he still had grown frustrated with Pettersson's work ethic. - Patrick Johnston
Both the Wild and Canucks are off to great starts since the trade, perhaps even more surprisingly Vancouver winning four straight games since the trade.
One Teammate Who Misses Quinn Hughes Is Brock Boeser
Even though it looks like Hughes and Pettersson drifted apart with one another, one ex-teammate that looks back fondly upon his time with Hughes is Brock Boeser.
I know there's a few of us, especially myself - I was feeling so many different emotions, because he's one of my best buddies on the team and such an important piece. Couldn't really explain. I was sad. I was mad. I was happy for him. It was just a ton of emotions.
He [Hughes] was one of my few teammates that came to my dad's funeral, and I think that kind of proved everything to me - the person he is and how he was raised by his parents. That meant a lot to me. He just has a good heart, and he cares about people, and he cares about hockey, and that's just who he is. - Brock Boeser

Thanks to their four straight wins, the Canucks have dug themselves out of the last place spot in the Pacific Division, but still have a long way to go.
