Tonight the NHL Department of Player Safety has made a decision in the case of Jason Dickinson after his dangerous hit on Canucks forward Filip Chytil. Last night Canucks forward Filip Chytil was forced to leave the game against the Blackhawks due to a dangerous boarding hit from Jason Dickinson. The play caused uproar online with many calling for Dickinson to face a fine or suspension for his actions.

With so much outrage it was expected that Dickinson would have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety considering the injury that Chytil ultimately suffered. Tonight we finally have news on where things stand with a punishment for Dickinson.
Jason Dickinson Avoids Punishment For Injuring Filip Chytil
In cases where a player could face potential discipline for a hit, a hearing needs to be scheduled by the NHL's Department of Player Safety within 24 hours of the game's completion. With that deadline now passing for this particular incident Dickinson seems to have escaped punishment in the way of a fine or suspension for injuring Chytil with the vicious hit. Despite the outcry from fans and the anger shown by Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet no punishment will be in order for Dickinson and no message will be sent to the rest of the league that this type of hit is not okay. The Canucks do not play the Blackhawks again this season which means the team themselves will not be able to get retribution for Chytil either. As more information becomes available regarding Chytil's recovery we will pass that news along to you.
