Tonight, a new report has revealed the shocking asking price offered for Canucks defenseman Tyler Myers by the Detroit Red Wings.
The Vancouver Canucks are expected to be major sellers at the trade deadline in a couple of weeks.
The Canucks remain near the bottom of the standings and have been selling off veteran pieces all season long after committing to a rebuild.
Now, veteran defenseman Tyler Myers is on the chopping block and could demand an incredible return by the time the NHL trade deadline comes around.
Insider reveals stunning asking price for Tyler Myers set by the Canucks
According to NHL insider David Pagnotta, the Detroit Red Wings have offered a second-round pick for Tyler Myers services.
The offer on the table is from the Red Wings, it's a 2nd round pick - Sekeres & Price (2/27)
With the Canucks seemingly turning this offer down, it seems the Canucks believe they can get significantly more for the 36-year-old behemoth defenseman before the deadline.
Myers this season has been a truly defensive defenseman with just 8 points over 50-plus games but in the past has shown offensive ability.
Myers is in the second year of a three year deal which could entice some teams looking for a veteran who could stick around for multiple seasons.
In addition, he is making just 3 million dollars this season and next which is a bargain for a defenseman of his caliber and veteran prestige.
At his advanced age, it would be surprising to see the Canucks get much more than a second-round pick but clearly GM Patrik Allvin and President of Hockey Ops Jim Rutherford believe they can squeeze more out of interested teams.
As the deadline approaches, it will be fun to see if the Canucks end up dealing Myers to a new home and how much they can get for him.
