An account on X reports the Edmonton Oilers have made an offer to the Toronto Maple Leafs for Oliver Ekman-Larsson, but nothing has been confirmed.

It frames a swap built around Ekman-Larsson going out, with a forward and futures coming back to Toronto.
The reported sweeteners are a first-round pick and Beau Akey, a right-shot defense prospect.
Akey is 21, drafted in 2023, second round, by the Edmonton Oilers, and he's the kind of piece Toronto would actually value.
Andrew Mangiapane is the NHL name in the package, and he's sitting at 7-7-14 this season with Edmonton.
Here's why it passes the sniff test, even if it's unconfirmed: the Leafs have chased a steadier blue line all season.
Ekman-Larsson has quietly delivered 8-27-35, and he's done it while playing real minutes and touching the puck on the man advantage.
He also carries a $3.5 million cap hit, which matters if Toronto is trying to keep flexibility for a second move.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson puts Toronto Maple Leafs on edge

Leafs fans have been burned by "done deal" whispers before, so the mood right now is cautious, not celebratory.
Toronto is 27-23-9, and the record screams bubble team that can't afford a dead deadline.
Edmonton is 29-23-8, and that's the profile of a club willing to pay extra for one more playoff-ready defender.
If Toronto is taking Mangiapane back, it has to be because the front office sees a fit in the top-nine, not just money in, money out.
The real question is what else is in the "four-plus pieces" idea, because futures only sting if the Leafs don't get the exact right defense upgrade.
Until there's confirmation from team sources, treat this as one account's reporting, and keep your guard up.
