Canucks' Kiefer Sherwood linked to multiple Stanley Cup playoff contenders
Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood, who is heavily involved in trade rumours, has been linked to both an Eastern and Western Conference team.
The Vancouver Canucks have already made a major trade so far this year, sending captain and former Norris Trophy winning defenseman Quinn Hughes to the Minnesota Wild.
And there are still multiple players who are included in trade rumours and could soon be on their way out of Vancouver.
One of those players is Kiefer Sherwood, who is a pending UFA at the end of the season, and now there are at least two teams he's being linked to.
Per analysts Pierre LeBrun and Chris Johnston, the Dallas Stars and Boston Bruins are the best fits for Sherwood if he were to be traded. LeBrun pointed out the long-term injury to Stars forward Tyler Seguin as a reason for a potential acquisition, and Johnston described Sherwood as a prototypical Bruins player based on his style of play.
We know the Stars have already kicked tires on the pending unrestricted free agent. And that was before Tyler Seguin was lost long-term to an ACL injury. - Pierre LeBrun
Sherwood is a prototypical Bruin: big, fast and tenacious on the forecheck. As such, he's viewed as a player who would be a great fit in an organization that is building back up following last year's reset. - Chris Johnston
Kiefer Sherwood Is Leading The Canucks In Goals
A trade of Sherwood would be a sacrifice of offense, as he's currently leading all Canucks scorers with 16 goals so far this year.
Sherwood is also in the final year of his current contract that carries an AAV (average annual value) of $1.5 million.
In 301 career NHL games, Sherwood has 118 points (59G, 59A).
