Top NHL insider Pierre LeBrun and Chris Johnston revealed the two most likely teams for Kiefer Sherwood: the Boston Bruins and the Dallas Stars.

As NHL teams begin thinking ahead to the March 6 trade deadline, the landscape of buyers and sellers is still fluid.
With the league's holiday roster freeze now in effect, it's a good time to identify early trade fits, and top NHL insiders Pierre LeBrun and Chris Johnston named the two teams they feel could be the perfect fit for Kiefer Sherwood of the Canucks.

Why Pierre LeBrun likes the Dallas Stars

LeBrun believes it's the Dallas Stars. The Stars have already expressed interest in Sherwood, even before Tyler Seguin's long-term ACL injury.
Dallas doesn't have a first-round pick this June, having traded it to Carolina last season in the Mikko Rantanen deal. One option could be 23-year-old forward Mavrik Bourque.
The 2020 first-round pick showed major offensive upside in the AHL (77 points in 71 games) but hasn't fully translated that in the NHL. Vancouver is clearly seeking younger talent as part of its post-Quinn Hughes rebuild.
While Bourque may not be the perfect fit, there's potential for a mutually beneficial deal.

Why Chris Johnston counters with the Boston Bruins

Johnston believes it's the Boston Bruins. Sherwood's style, big, fast, and aggressive on the forecheck, fits the Bruins' rebuilding profile. Boston and Vancouver have explored trade possibilities in the past, though the price could be steep.
Sherwood appears ready to surpass 20 goals for the first time, and Vancouver is seeking a significant return.
Boston isn't expected to pursue rentals at this deadline, but the teams could align if a trade included a contract extension, which Sherwood would consider.
Sherwood's combination of size, speed, and scoring potential makes him one of the more intriguing early trade candidates, and both Dallas and Boston have clear reasons to explore a move.
