Insider David Pagnotta discusses what the Oilers next trade target will be after addressing goaltending

The Edmonton Oilers have already made a major trade so far this year, as they acquired goaltender Tristan Jarry from the Pittsburgh Penguins along with forward Sam Poulin.
In return, they sent struggling goaltender Stuart Skinner and defenseman Brett Kulak to the Penguins.
But is Oilers GM Stan Bowman finished yet? Per a new report from NHL analyst David Pagnotta, there could be more moves coming yet.
Per Pagnotta, Bowman could be interested in acquiring a defenseman in the same style as Mattias Ekholm, who was acquired by the Oilers years prior from the Nashville Predators before their consecutive runs to the Stanley Cup Final.

Are The Oilers Done Making Moves Yet?
The acquisition of Jarry from the Penguins was one of the first major trades that the Oilers have made since they acquired Mattias Ekholm from the Nashville Predators in 2023 at the Trade Deadline.
There was some doubt on whether captain Connor McDavid would want to re-sign with the Oilers if they didn't make an upgrade to their goaltending, but after he signed a two-year extension, they made the move for Jarry that they hope will get them over the top to finally capture their elusive first Stanley Cup since 1990.
The Trade Deadline this season is March 6.
