Per a new report from NHL analyst Frank Seravalli, Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson is only interested in playing for contending teams in specific locations based on the tax structure.
One of the most talked-about players in trade rumours from the Western Conference is Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson.
Andersson and the Flames have had an incredibly inconsistent start to the year, and despite some early struggles, they've somewhat improved their standing.
But they're still in the second to last spot in the Pacific Division standings, and there could be major changes coming their way if they aren't able to more further climb out of the hold.
Andersson is reportedly interested in only being traded to a contending team that is in a favourable tax state, per a new report from NHL analyst Frank Seravalli.
Count on all the traditional, no tax states that have a chance to win (to be in on Andersson). Those are the desired destinations. And not a surprise to anyone, those are the teams that are generally in the mix. - Frank Seravalli
He's in the last year of his contract with an AAV (average annual value) of $4.55 million.
Rasmus Andersson Wants To Play For A Contending Team In A Favourable Tax State
There are a handful of teams that fit the bill of Andersson's alleged request. The teams who play in states with favourable tax situations include the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers as well as the Tampa Bay Lightning, Nashville Predators, Seattle Kraken, Dallas Stars and Vegas Golden Knights.
Right now, the Predators and Kraken are not realistic contenders, as both teams are trying to get back to the playoffs.
But teams like Dallas, Vegas, Tampa and Florida would fit that bill for Andersson if he were to accept a deal.
