Elias Pettersson did not play in Saturday night's game for the Vancouver Canucks, and now Adam Foote reveals the source of that injury.
The Vancouver Canucks season appears to be failing as we head towards the end of 2025, and while they picked up a massive victory on Saturday night, they remain well down in the overall standings in the National Hockey League.
Those struggles come despite having some major stars on this roster, and after having a dreadful 2024/25 campaign, one of those stars has decided to show up again, with Elias Pettersson bouncing back in a big way.
Last year, EP40 had a total of 45 points, and through 28 games this season, he has 8 goals and 22 points, but on Saturday, he was shockingly a late scratch against the Minnesota Wild.
Adam Foote reveals the source of Pettersson's injury
That came as a shock to many, as Pettersson had not been showing signs of an injury beforehand, and now Head Coach Adam Foote has revealed a major update on EP40's situation.
According to Foote, the team found out early on Saturday that Pettersson had an upper body injury, and while he tried to test it in warmups, it simply wasn't going to be worth playing for him in this one.
Pettersson will now get an MRI on Sunday to assess the severity of the situation, and while we still don't know exactly what it is that is bothering him, it's likely that all the details will be revealed by the Canucks when the time is right, but the hope is that this doesn't turn into a long-term injury.
