Today, former Toronto Maple Leafs General Manager has found a new job just days after being fired by the Maple Leafs.
The Toronto Maple Leafs endured their worst season in a decade missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs ultimately leading to the firing of GM Brad Treliving.
Since his firing, reports had not suggested what Treliving planned to do in his next hockey position or if teams had interest in him.
Today, that has changed as Treliving and former Maple Leafs front office member Jason Spezza have been hired by Hockey Canada.
Brad Treliving finds new job with Hockey Canada after Maple Leafs firing
This afternoon, Hockey Canada senior vice-president of high performance and hockey operations Scott Salmond announced the news providing a statement on their excitement to add Treliving to the mix.
Brad brings invaluable experience from previous international events and the NHL, and Jason is a rising NHL executive that brings a wealth of experience as a player both professionally and internationally, and we are excited that these two will lead our team at the IIHF World Championship.
Treliving will be joined by Jason Spezza and former Maple Leafs GM Kyle Dubas to fill out an entirely former Toronto front office for the World Championship team.
With this hiring, Treliving will now be the head decision maker when it comes to selecting the 2026 World Championship team for Canada.
He will have immense pressure on his shoulders as Canada look to get revenge on the United States after their heartbreaking Olympic Games loss.
As of now, Treliving’s NHL future remains unclear but a good showing from Team Canada at the World Championships could catapult him back into an important front office role.
