Sharks young star Igor Chernyshov sent to the hospital after scary collision with Canadiens Mike Matheson

There was a scary scene tonight in Montreal during the game between the Canadiens and the San Jose Sharks.

Sharks young forward Igor Chernyshov was caught with a high hit from Montreal Canadiens defenseman Mike Matheson and looked to be out cold. He then tried to get up but stumbled.

He was helped by Sharks trainer Will Leonard and teammate Vincent Desharnais, who was holding a towel to his head. He was sent to the hospital, where he underwent testing, after being officially ruled out for the rest of the game.

Per young Sharks star Macklin Celebrini, it was a scary incident to watch.

Let's hope that Chernyshov is not only okay, but doesn't suffer any lingering effects from the scary incident in Montreal.

Taken with the 33rd overall pick by the Sharks in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, Chernyshov had split his time between the KHL and the MHL, which is the Russian Hockey Junior League.

He played for both MHC Dynamo Moscow and Dynamo Moscow before coming to North America and playing a year with the Saginaw Spirit in the OHL, where he had 55 points (19G, 36A) in 23 games.

He also got two games in with the Sharks' American Hockey League affiliate San Jose Barracuda.

So far this year with the Sharks, Chernyshov has 11 points (3G, 8A) in 15 games played.
