EC-KAC says Jordan Murray is stable, and that one line matters more than any playoff bracket in Klagenfurt right now.
The club reported Jordan Murray collapsed on the bench in the 18th minute against Fehérvár AV19, lost consciousness and then vital signs, before doctors and emergency staff revived him.
By Wednesday morning, Murray was waking from an induced coma, and by Thursday EC-KAC said he was improving and could move to a normal hospital ward within days.
That is the real Data Punch here, not the score sheet. Hockey stops being tactics the second a life is on the line.
Murray, a 33-year-old left-shot defender, was EC-KAC's first 2025-26 signing and gave the blue line 4-5-9 in 20 regular-season games before this happened.
The Instagram post spread the update fast, but the bigger hockey angle is what Murray usually settles for this team. He moves pucks clean, supports the first pass, and helps KAC spend less time defending.
EC-KAC already reacted earlier to Murray's absence by signing Josh Teves through the end of the season. Teves has 6-7-13 in 24 regular-season games, so there is at least a puck-moving answer on the roster.
Jordan Murray's health resets EC-KAC's playoff frame
You could feel fans shift from playoff buzz to straight human concern, and honestly that is exactly how it should be.
The league first discussed changes to the quarterfinal format, but on Thursday confirmed the series will restart Sunday as a full best-of-seven in Klagenfurt.
So the strategic read is simple. EC-KAC now has to carry emotion and structure at the same time, leaning harder on Teves, Clemens Unterweger and Jesper Jensen Aabo to keep exits clean.
There is no cap angle driving this story, no contract noise worth chasing. The only deadline that matters is getting through Sunday with composure after a week nobody in that room will forget.
If KAC wins anything from here, it will start with surviving the emotional weight of the restart, not just beating Fehérvár on the board.
