Oilers Receive Bad Injury News on Stuart Skinner After Mikko Rantanen Knees Him in the Head
Stuart Skinner took a knee to the head last night from Mikko Rantanen, and it appears he will not be able to play the Oilers' next game at the very minimum.
Edmonton Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner left Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Dallas Stars after taking a knee to his head from Mikko Rantanen. The incident occurred late in the second period when Rantanen ran into Skinner.
After the contest, Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch told Sportsnet's Gene Principe he doesn't think Skinner will join the team's trip to Seattle for Thursday night's game versus the Kraken.
Calvin Pickard relieved Skinner, and he completed the game in relief. Skinner had allowed four goals on 21 shots before he was relieved.
Corey Perry acknowledged that the team did not react to Skinner's injury. When asked if the Oilers get enough done taking care of goalies, he said it would be handled in-house.
"I didn't see it until afterwards, and I was very pissed at myself," Perry told Sportsnet's Mark Spector.
Perry added, "That's on me. I should never let that happen."

Skinner was also removed from a game last week by a concussion spotter
This is not the first instance of Skinner having to leave a game in recent weeks. He was taken out late in the third period of a game against the Winnipeg Jets on March 20 when the concussion spotter stepped in.
Entering Thursday's game, the 26-year-old had a .895 save percentage and a 2.87 goals-against average through 48 appearances.
The Oilers also lack crucial forwards Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl due to injury. The Edmonton Oilers have 87 points and sit in third place within the Pacific Division, two back of the Los Angeles Kings for home ice during the first round.
