Stan Bowman Facing Major Backlash For Mishandling One Huge Trade At The Deadline

The Edmonton Oilers decided to go all in this season to surround Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl with as much talent as possible.

One of the biggest moves the Oilers made was to complete a trade with the Boston Bruins to bring in veteran center Trent Frederic.

In the trade, the Oilers gave up one of the picks they got for losing Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway in free agency to the St. Louis Blues over the summer.

When Frederic and Jones were acquired it was expected both players would be key contributors to the lineup for the rest of the season and into the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

However, Frederic has continued to deal with an injury that he suffered while with the Bruins and has yet to make his debut with the team after reportedly suffering a setback in the timeline.

With Frederic still out of the lineup and in the final year of his contract, it is becoming clearer by the day that the Oilers and Stan Bowman made a mistake in striking this deal and now fans are beginning to speak out.

With Frederic's timeline so uncertain Edmonton Oilers' fans are starting to lose their patience and realize that this trade could be a huge mistake.

The Oilers gave up significant assets to acquire Frederic and if he continues to be out with injury it will be nowhere near worth it.

With Frederic still likely a couple of weeks away he would need to be a major playoff contributor in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the trade to be worth it.

If he does end up being a failed trade this adds yet another failure by Bowman and the front office in their first year under control.
