A new video has surfaced that shows exactly how Connor McDavid suffered his injury and it appears that the Jets' Josh Morrissey cross-checked him in the ribs.

Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid was forced to leave Thursday night's game against the Winnipeg Jets with a suspected lower-body injury, a devastating loss for the team.
The injury followed as McDavid was chasing the puck into the Jets' zone when Winnipeg defenseman Josh Morrissey accidentally collided with him.

Some have started saying the cross-check by Josh Morrissey was dirty

The initial contact seemed to be accidental, but a leaked video has surfaced showing Morrissey cross-checking McDavid in the ribcage area, something that may have caused or aggravated the injury.
McDavid was seen getting advice from the medical staff of Edmonton on the bench before being taken out of the game before the third period.
His removal occurred the same day the Oilers were already short of Leon Draisaitl, who did not play due to an unspecified injury.
Prior to his departure, McDavid recorded his 90th point of the season, assisting on Jeff Skinner's 13th goal in the second period. When he was injured, the game was 2-2.
The 28-year-old phenomenon has been the league's dominant force, posting 361 goals, 711 assists, and 1,072 points in 708 games for his career.
He just won a Conn Smythe award during the 2024 playoff run and already took home the Hart Trophy in 2023 after leading the NHL with 64 goals, 89 assists, and 153 points.
Edmonton now sits with 85 points and is second in the Pacific Division, trailing only the Vegas Golden Knights. The Oilers have a 6-3-1 record in their last 10 and are hot on the heels of Vegas, who are ahead of them by only a three-point margin.
The Oilers want to redeem themselves after being defeated by the Florida Panthers in the 2024 Stanley Cup Final, and losing McDavid for any amount of time would be a major danger to their championship aspirations, but he will be out for at least a week.
