Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch has given the latest update on injured goaltender Tristan Jarry, who was hurt in just his third start since being acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins last month.
After deciding that they couldn't wait for Stuart Skinner to try and find some consistency to his game, the Edmonton Oilers shipped him to the Pittsburgh Penguins and acquired Tristan Jarry in return.
Even though many initially questioned the trade considering Jarry's own struggles in recent years, the Oilers still felt that he was the necessary upgrade to their goaltending that they had to make.
But Jarry was hurt in just his third start in an Oilers sweater while trying to make a save against the Boston Bruins, and was ruled out for the next handful of weeks.
Head coach Kris Knoblauch has since given the latest update on the condition of Jarry, saying that he won't return until at least the middle of the month.
So far this year split between the Penguins and Oilers, Jarry has a positive 12-3-1 record with a .906 SV%.
Tristan Jarry Is Now With The Edmonton Oilers
Jarry, who started his professional career with the WHL's Edmonton Oil Kings, was excited to go back to where it all began for him.
He was originally taken by the Penguins with the 44th overall pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, and would play the first several years of his NHL career in Pittsburgh.
But last year, his struggles were enough to make the Penguins waive him and then send him to the American Hockey League affiliate Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins after he went unclaimed.
In 310 career NHL games played, Jarry has won 164 of them.
