Today, in a new press conference, Oilers’ head coach Kris Knoblauch confirmed a changing of the guard for his goaltenders for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Goaltending has been a topic of conversation all season long for the Edmonton Oilers as the team looks for stability.
Earlier in the year, the Oilers make a big trade sending starter Stuart Skinner to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for Tristan Jarry.
As a result of the trade, Jarry became the Oilers starter and was expected to remain so for the rest of the season.
However, due to a series of injuries Jarry slowly lost his spot and then his on-ice performance slipped as well.
With Jarry’s fall off, back up goalie Connor Ingram stepped up and was given more opportunity.
Now, with the playoffs around the corner, head coach Kris Knoblauch has confirmed a changing of the guard as Ingram takes over the starting role.

Connor Ingram to take over starting role as Stanley Cup Playoffs approach

During a recent press conference, Knoblauch confirmed Ingram’s status as the Oilers’ starter for the present and beyond.
Connor Ingram was brought in as a depth goalie, and now he’s taken over the role as our starting goalie right now. So right now, we’re very happy with our situation.

This is major responsibility placed on Ingram who began the year in the NHL’s Player Assistance Program before returning to action in the AHL and eventually being called up in December.
Since then, Ingram has slowly proven he is the man for the job and will likely have the weight of the franchise on him come playoff time.
As the playoffs begin, it will be interesting to see if Knoblauch holds strong with Ingram or begins to second guess his starter.
