Kris Knoblauch gives an update on Zach Hyman’s injury as the Stanley Cup Playoffs loom

This afternoon, Edmonton Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch spoke to the media and gave an update on Zach Hyman’s injury status.
The Edmonton Oilers have struggled mightily over the last couple of weeks with injuries to key players including Zach Hyman and Leon Draisaitl.
To this point, Hyman’s status heading into the playoffs has been unknown as he continues to work his way back.
Now, Knoblauch has given an update on Hyman’s status for tonight’s game against the Vegas Golden Knights and the playoffs as well.

During the press conference, Knoblauch confirmed that Hyman will miss tonight’s game against the Golden Knights but would play if it were a playoff game.
Hyman out tonight according to Knoblauch. Said if it was a playoff game he’d be in but choosing to let him rest whatever the issue is.
While Hyman being out is frustrating it is good to know he will return to the Oilers lineup when the games matter the most.
With the Oilers having an 8 point lead over the first team out they are likely safe when it comes to a playoff spot which almost certainly had an impact on Knoblauch’s decision.
This season, Hyman has had a major bounce back season when healthy with 51 points in 57 games compared to just 44 points in 73 games from the 2024-25 season.
As the regular season winds down, it will be interesting to see if Hyman gets any more action or if he will only return for game one of the first round.
