Newly-acquired Oiler Jack Roslovic met with the media for the first time today and revealed that he signed with the team because it's an opportunity to win.

Jack Roslovic has joined the Edmonton Oilers on a one-year, $1.5 million contract. The 28-year-old left-winger arrives from a strong season with the Carolina Hurricanes, where he tallied 39 points in 81 games and four more in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
"We've been talking to Jack going back to the summer," Oilers general manager Stan Bowman said Wednesday. "We've been in touch with him the whole time and I said to [his agent] back then what I did the other day when this thing picked back up, that we love the player but we don't have a lot of money to spend, so if he wants to come here and kind of bet on himself and get a chance to play, we'd love to have him. I think he was weighing his options and came to the decision this is the place he wants to be."

Jack Roslovic was a 1st Round Draft Pick by the Winnipeg Jets iin 2015

Since being drafted by Winnipeg at #25 overall in 2015, Roslovic has played 526 NHL games for Winnipeg, Columbus, New York, and Carolina, tallying 260 points, and in 45 playoff games, contributing 17 points.
This was the first media availability and first full practice with the club since signing. He said that the biggest motivating points in signing with Edmonton were the ability to compete for a championship and skate with superstar players.
"An opportunity to win, an opportunity to play with great players."
- Jack Roslovic
Edmonton expects him to settle into the club and score for their top-nine forwards. Roslovic will join the mix this weekend as Edmonton looks to build an early rhythm.
The Oilers opened their season with a 4-3 shootout loss to the Calgary Flames at Rogers Place on Wednesday.
Despite glimpses of chemistry, there is considerable scope to tighten up on a number of critical edges. They'll look to rebound when they play the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday, and Roslovic could slot into the lineup as early as next week.
With Roslovic in the fold, the Oilers add depth, speed, and playoff experience to the forward core. His addition should give the coaching staff more flexibility and a second scoring threat once the season really gets serious.
