The arrival of Jack Roslovic to Edmonton will be greeted with open arms by Oilers fans and the team, but it does mean there will be changes to the team's lineup. The Edmonton Oilers were busy this week, inking forward Jack Roslovic during Wednesday's season-opening loss to the Calgary Flames. The signing will be finalized shortly, clearing the way for Roslovic to practice Friday and potentially play Saturday night against the Vancouver Canucks. Adding Roslovic might be as easy as placing Jake Walman on injured reserve, a temporary stint that would create some space. The other solution would be to send one of Matt Savoie, Isaac Howard, or David Tomasek back to the AHL, the only three of whom are not waiver-eligible, but that doesn't appear to be in the works, either.

Loading from Twitter ...

Savoie already played his top-six minutes, and both Howard and Tomasek played extremely well on opening night, with Tomasek recording his first NHL point with an assist to Leon Draisaitl. At some point, the Oilers will have to make tougher decisions. When Mattias Janmark, Walman, and Zach Hyman are all healthy, Edmonton will have to lose three roster positions: two forwards and a defenceman.
Curtis Lazar Appears to Be the Most Likely One Placed on Waivers
Curtis Lazar, as the odd man out already, could be in line to go on waivers. At defense, one of Alec Regula, Troy Stecher, or Ty Emberson would have to be sent out to create room. That would also leave one other decision to make. Waiving Noah Philp would be a gamble with how strong his line with Vasily Podkolzin and Kasperi Kapanen looked against Calgary, managing over 70 percent of the shot attempts. A more practical option might be moving on from Janmark, whose ice time has become less guaranteed with the increasing depth. For now, Edmonton has time, but not much. Once Hyman returns to health, the Oilers' front office will have a roster dilemma that will reshuffle the bottom of their line.
