Oilers captain Connor McDavid spoke about what he feels the legacy of now-ex goaltender Stuart Skinner should be after his trade to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

There was a blockbuster goalie-for-goalie trade in the NHL yesterday, as Tristan Jarry was traded from the Pittsburgh Penguins to the Edmonton Oilers for Stuart Skinner.
Even though there were other elements involved in the trade, Jarry being acquired for Skinner were the main two components.
Skinner's inconsistency proved too much for the Oilers to want to continue hoping would improve, and they made a move they hope now officially shores up the position for good.
Connor McDavid, who with Skinner has gone to the Stanley Cup Final twice in a row now, talked after practice today about what he feels the legacy in an Oilers sweater should be looked as.
I think he should be remembered for leading the way to two Cup Finals, two exciting runs that he backstopped. And he was a good person when he was here, always treated people well and that's important.

McDavid said that even though he's sad to see Skinner and defenseman Brett Kulak depart, he's excited for the arrival of Jarry and Sam Poulin.
It was a sad day to see those two guys go. Two guys who have been great for us for a long time. It's disappointing to see them go.

That being said, I'm excited to see Jars and Spencer come in, two guys who've played well this year and I think they can help.

The Oilers Will Fondly Remember Skinner's Time In Edmonton

There seemed to be a collective feeling of the loss of a friend in the Oilers' locker room, as the players agreed with what McDavid had to say.
Head coach Kris Knoblauch also agreed about Skinner.
It's not too often a goalie gets two runs to the Stanley Cup Finals. He had his ups and downs but a lot of his downs were unfair for him. He wasn't stellar every night but he was a really solid goaltender. You don't have the playoff success that we did without having solid goaltending.

Skinner is a pending UFA at the end of the year.
