Connor McDavid gave Kati Tabin a quick “good luck,” and it landed right as Team Canada made her an Olympian.
Tabin was heading to her own hockey game when the Oilers captain crossed her path.
It’s a tiny thing, but timing can make it feel massive.
Because on Monday, Tabin was heading to play for Canada at the Milano Cortina Olympics.
That’s the kind of news that changes how you hear everything, even a two-word greeting.
McIntyre shared the moment in this post.
Tabin is 28, a Winnipeg defender who has built her pro résumé the hard way, shift by shift.
She was drafted in 2023, fifth round, 30th overall by Montréal in the PWHL draft.
Kati Tabin and Winnipeg get a Connor McDavid lift
Jets fans in this city know that little Canadian hockey moments hit different when they’re yours.
In Montréal, Tabin logged 4-4-8 in 28 games in 2024-25, and she plays a simple, stubborn style that travels.
For Canada, that usually means clean outs, hard gaps, and no panic when the forecheck ramps up.
The Olympics start fast, and there’s no time to “grow into it,” especially on the blue line.
So yeah, McDavid didn’t “make” the roster call.
But he accidentally put a superstar stamp on the walk into one of the biggest days of her life.
That’s hockey, random, perfect, and personal.
