Marie-Philip Poulin leaving early vs Czechia hit Team Canada fans in the gut at Milano Cortina 2026.

Midway through the first period, the Canadian captain headed straight to the dressing room. The report said she did not want to put pressure on her right leg.
In a short tournament, that is nightmare fuel. Canada can survive a sloppy shift, not a missing heartbeat.
As of now, there has been no public on-record medical update on the situation. So all we have is the visual and the immediate concern.
The timing stings because Canada is trying to stack points in Group A.
Here is the post that started the wave.
Canada did get on the board early, with Kristin O’Neill scoring at 5:44 of the first. Renata Fast picked up the helper.
That goal mattered, but it did not calm anything down. When Poulin is not on the bench, every rotation feels louder.

Marie-Philip Poulin is the Team Canada pressure point

Canadian fans are excited for this run, but you could feel the instant panic, because nobody wants to imagine Canada without its closer.
Poulin is still the engine of the room, even when she is not scoring. She drives the top-six matchups and makes the man advantage feel organized.
The bigger worry is simple: right leg, no weight, straight down the tunnel. That is the kind of detail coaches hate seeing.
Poulin came into these Games after another monster year, including leading her PWHL club in a starring role. She also earned major international recognition in 2025.
If she cannot take full reps, Canada’s lines get shuffled fast. It also forces tougher minutes onto the rest of the forward group.
Now the key thing is the next game sheet, and whether Poulin is back taking draws. Until then, it is hold-your-breath hockey.
