Connor McDavid delivers bold praise for Team Canada linemate Macklin Celebrini

Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid had bold praise for his Team Canada teammate, second year San Jose Sharks forward Macklin Celebrini.
Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid was unsurprisingly one of the first players officially named to Canada's roster for the Olympics, which is the first time in 12 years that NHL players will be taking part.
Thanks to the tremendous year that he's having with the young San Jose Sharks, second year Sharks forward Macklin Celebrini was also named to Canada's roster.
To begin with, Celebrini is skating on Canada's top line along with McDavid and Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson.
Even though McDavid has only played against Celebrini a few times, including just weeks ago in Edmonton on January 29, he's already very impressed with the 19 year old's skill and dedication.
I’ve only spent a little time around him, but even with just that little bit, I can tell how much he cares, how hard he works, how much he’s invested. It’s been really impressive to watch. He’s such a young guy, but to come into this team, and not just come into this team, but also be asked to play a big role, that’s incredible. - Connor McDavid
So far with the Sharks this year, Celebrini has 81 points (23G, 51A) in 55 games and is on pace to reach 121 points.
Macklin Celebrini Is Playing In Just His Second Year In The NHL
After the Sharks won the 2024 NHL Draft Lottery, they used it to take Celebrini with the first overall pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.
Even though Celebrini missed multiple games in his rookie year because of injury, his skill was very apparent.
He's shown that he's a legitimate star in the making in just his second year in the NHL, currently on pace to top 120 points at just 19 years of age.
