NHL analyst Elliotte Friedman has called out New York Rangers captain J.T. Miller for his lack of leadership in what has been a miserable year in the Big Apple.

Nothing has gone right for the New York Rangers this year, who are now in last place in the Eastern Conference and will miss the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the second straight year.
Rangers captain J.T. Miller has caught considerable heat for his lackluster play and confusing postgame comments that have done anything but inspire confidence in his ability as a leader of an Original 6 team.
He also recently caught heat from NHL analyst Elliotte Friedman and said there could be changes coming if things don't eventually improve.
Elliotte Friedman: Re Rangers: There has to be a better way than how [Miller's] answering questions right now; Sullivan clearly is just as frustrated; they have to work with each other; Or the Rangers are going to have to change something there, too - Sportsnet (2/6)
Miller was acquired just over a year ago from the Vancouver Canucks after a rift with now-ex teammate Elias Pettersson was confirmed by team president Jim Rutherford.

J.T. Miller Was Acquired By The Rangers From The Canucks Last Year

Miller is playing in his first full year in a Rangers sweater in what is now his second tenure with the team after he was acquired last year from the Vancouver Canucks as part of a major deal that sent Filip Chytil back to the Canucks.
Miller, who was taken by the Rangers with the 15th overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, has caught some criticism for being named to Team USA over other more productive players like Jason Robertson of the Dallas Stars and Cole Caufield of the Montreal Canadiens.
So far this year with the last place Rangers, Miller has 36 points (14G, 22A) in 48 games.
