Per a report from NHL analyst Thomas Drance, both Conor Garland and Brock Boeser are the two most likely trade candidates for the Vancouver Canucks.
Nothing has gone right this year for the Vancouver Canucks, who are the worst-ranked team in the NHL and will come nowhere near the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Adding to their pain this year was the trade of captain Quinn Hughes, the best defenseman in team history, to the Minnesota Wild in December; they also traded Kiefer Sherwood to the divisional foe San Jose Sharks just weeks later.
It's a major turn in fortune for the Canucks as opposed to two years ago when they won the Pacific Division and came within a victory of what would have been their first berth in the Western Conference Final since 2011.
Per a new report from NHL analyst Thomas Drace, the Canucks could not only consider a trade of Conor Garland but also of Brock Boeser.
Thomas Drance: Among this veteran group...I sense that Conor Garland...and Brock Boeser should be considered the most likely of Vancouver’s veteran players who could realistically be moved before the deadline - The Athletic (2/4)
Boeser briefly was a UFA in the summer before signing a seven year extension with an AAV (average annual value) of $7.25 million to remain with the Canucks on July 1.
Garland also recently signed a lengthy contract extension with the Canucks with an AAV of $6 million through 2032.
The Canucks Could Trade One Or Both Of Conor Garland And Brock Boeser
Even though both players recently signed long contract extensions, it appears nothing is off the table for Canucks president of hockey operations Jim Rutherford.
Not long ago, Rutherford admitted publicly that the team would have to listen to offers on every player on the roster.
Garland is no stranger this year to trade rumours, and multiple other Canucks players like Jake DeBrusk and even Elias Pettersson have had their name come up in trade rumours.
The trade deadline this year is March 6.
