Rumor: Leafs Star Forward Linked to Western Conference

With extension talks not going well for the Leafs a trade seems like to be the likely outcome for the Swedish player.

With the Matthews extension coming out, Nylander watched his star teammate break the record on his contract while not having Leafs GM Brad Treliving discuss Nylander's next deal.

With Nylander exploding for 40 goals and 87 total points it would make sense for him to receive a contract in the eight figure range which the Leafs might not be able to match.

If the Leafs and Nylander do not have a deal at the trade deadline we could see him shipped out of Toronto.

Recently, NHL Trade Talk linked Nylander to the Chicago Blackhawks and Connor Bedard's perfect teammate.

A duo of both Nylander and Bedard would be extremely fun to watch and both players have elite talent and would become a top duo in the league for many years.

With Chicago being loaded with picks and prospects they could find a way to make a trade possible. Chicago would become more competitive and give a player to play with their new cornerstone, for the Leafs it makes another team interested which gives them the ability to get the best package for their star.
