Frank Seravalli confirmed that the Canucks were nearly involved in a huge blockbuster trade with the Senators that fell apart, so Brock Boeser remains in Vancouver. Brock Boeser is staying in Vancouver, at least until the end of the current 2024-25 campaign.

Amid a wave of changes that have swept up the Vancouver Canucks core that looked set in stone as recently as last season, many questions were asked of the potential future of the longest-serving Canucks player. Headed to unrestricted free agency at the conclusion of the 2024-25 season, when his three-year, $19.95-million deal expires, rational thinking suggested a trade would be coming for Boeser unless he and the Canucks somehow came to a contract agreement. In the end, neither came to be, with no trade, and no contract extension.
The Senators tried moving Josh Norris to Vancouver before turning to Buffalo
Now, word from Bruce Garrioch is that the Canucks and Ottawa Senators had a massive blockbuster trade lined up that could have involved Josh Norris and Boeser, but talks ultimately collapsed, and Ottawa decided to trade Norris to Buffalo instead.

In return, the Senators got Dylan Cozens, Dennis Gilbert, and a 2nd round pick. The Senators also sent defenseman Jacob Bernard-Docker the other way to Buffalo. Vancouver elected to hold on to Boeser through the rest of this season, and will presumably continue talks on an extension to keep him in a Canucks uniform. Of course, once free agency hits, Vancouver will be battling with the rest of the league to lock up Boeser long-term. What likely played a key role in the decision from the Canucks' brass to hold on to him is the fact that Boeser has made it very clear his desire to remain a Canuck long-term, and has stated his love for the city, the fans, and the organization many times.
