NHL insider Frank Seravalli has revealed that Brock Boeser is more than likely to be moved by the 12 PM PST deadline today, as contract talks have collapsed. With the NHL trade deadline looming a little less than three hours from now, everyone is waiting to see if and when there are any last-minute deals. Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman was a visitor on 'Halford & Brough' on Sportsnet 650 Friday morning with a report involving Vancouver Canucks right-winger Brock Boeser. We'll see, Friedman said when asked about the market for Boeser. I think there's a lot of players - and I think Boeser is in that category - where teams know what the price is, and they're kind of waiting to see how everything fell and made their decisions today. I think Vancouver is willing to retain. I think they're looking for the best possible asset they can get. We'll see how things fall. I think the thing to is that these are really high prices. So, I'm very curious to see if teams don't get what they want, do they simply say 'you know what, we're not doing that.' I think Vancouver is probably at the mercy of other teams that have to make some decisions. Frank Seravalli also reported that it is almost a guarantee that Boeser gets traded today before the deadline. More likely than not that Boeser is on the move before 3pm ET. - Frank Seravalli

Boeser is a UFA
Boeser is in the last season of his three-year contract which carries a cap value of $6.65 million annually. Despite his career-best 40-goal, 73-point season in 2023-24, he hasn't managed to do it again. A concussion sustained after he was hit by Tanner Jeannot has affected his output, and he stands with 18 goals and 19 assists (37 points) in 54 games. At his current rate, he's likely to score 24 goals and 50 points in 73 games by the end of the season. Earlier in the season, it was said that the Canucks offered Boeser a five-year, $8 million-a-year deal, which he rejected. It was then rumored that Vancouver planned to make a last-ditch effort before the trade deadline, though there has been no follow-up on that story. Friedman also commented on Vancouver's plan heading into the final few hours leading to the deadline. The elite top-six center market is drying up, with news that Dylan Cozens and Josh Norris have been dealt in a trade.

Besides Boeser, the Canucks also have significant decisions to make on pending unrestricted free agents Pius Suter and Derek Forbort, paving the way for a potentially chaotic end to the deadline.
