NHL Insider Reveals Oilers Officially Only Trading For One Specific Position and Player
TSN insider Ryan Rishaug reported this morning that the Oilers are no longer shopping for a goaltender or defenseman, and are only targeting a forward.
TSN's Ryan Rishaug indicates that the Edmonton Oilers are not done making their pre-trade deadline transactions.
Having already traded for Trent Frederic, Max Jones, and Jake Walman, the Oilers are still reportedly looking for a top-six winger before the deadline passes, and have ruled out acquiring a goaltender or defenseman.
Don't believe we'll see anything on the goaltending front and D is likely set.

After acquiring Walman and taking on his full $3.4 million cap hit, the Oilers appear to be willing to spend their LTIR money. This leaves them with just under $2 million in wiggle room before they'd have to shed a contract to make another signing.
Taking Mikko Rantanen, for example, would only be possible if the Hurricanes keep 50% of his salary and accept a contract back. A more plausible choice might be Ryan Donato, assuming Chicago is willing to take on a smaller deal.
Most Oilers trade chips have no-trade clauses
One of the challenges Edmonton is dealing with is the trade protection built into most of their forwards' contracts. Their highest-paid players have no-move clauses that limit them.
There has been a rumor that the Oilers would ask Jeff Skinner to waive his no-move clause, but it seems unlikely he would want to do that considering his team is currently a contender for the playoffs.
Yet, to this point, they have not made such a request. Other than smaller transactions like Kasperi Kapanen, Vasily Podkolzin, or Connor Brown, the Oilers don't have a lot of chips to trade.
Corey Perry could be traded, but his performance this season makes it unlikely.
