NHL insider David Pagnotta has linked the Canucks to two players of the Bruins in a possible trade: Pavel Zacha and Casey Mittelstadt. The Boston Bruins broke their six-game losing streak Saturday evening, edging the Colorado Avalanche 3-2 at TD Garden to reach 4-6-0 in their first 10 games of the 2025-26 season. The win did relieve some of the pressure, though, but it has not ended speculation about the team's roster. Several sources indicate general manager Don Sweeney is in search of bargains and is willing to entertain listening to offers on all-star caliber players, including forwards Pavel Zacha and Casey Mittelstadt. Recently, on SiriusXM NHL Network Radio, The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta indicated both players' names were starting to circulate around the league.
Canucks GM Patrik Allvin has made it known publicly he wants to add center depth this season
Pagnotta also connected both to the Vancouver Canucks, especially Zacha, as GM Patrik Allvin is trying to add depth to his forward corps. Boston is interesting. Casey Mittelstadt is out there out there again. Pavel Zacha was a player that they explored and took calls on last season, Pagnotta said. From the Canucks perspective, those are two players that would appeal. There are players they are exploring on and I would imagine that Boston would be a club that Allvin and (President Jim) Rutherford are going to at least poke on to see what the price tag would be for either of those players.

Loading from Twitter ...

That rumor picked up steam this week when Vancouver sources and the 'Sekeres & Price Show' hyped the Canucks' interest. On Hockey Night in Canada's Saturday Headlines, Elliotte Friedman repeated those reports, a confirmation of the Canucks' interest in Zacha. I think it's been going on for quite some time. I think it's all the way going back to the summer - the Canucks and Bruins have been on off about this, Friedman said. Zacha is not in the last year of his deal, he has another year. Teams are looking for centres. Boston doesn't have to do anything here it doesn't want to do, but this is kind of been a dance, the Canucks and some other teams seeing if they can prize Zacha out of there. The 29-year-old has an eight-team no-trade list and has one year on his contract remaining after this season with a $4.75 million cap hit, and Vancouver is not on that list, according to reports. With trade talk beginning to boil and Boston still looking for consistency, this may be the beginning of a major overhaul of the roster if the Bruins' slump continues.
