Tonight, a new report from NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has confirmed that the Canucks are pursuing Bruins center Pavel Zacha on the trade market. Just over 24 hours ago, the Vancouver Canucks made a big move acquiring Lukas Reichel from the Chicago Blackhawks in a trade. The move provided the Canucks with much needed center depth after Filip Chytil's recent injury and potential upside from the 23 year old Reichel. Now, according to Elliotte Friedman, the Canucks are not done as they have re-engaged with the Bruins regarding veteran Pavel Zacha.
Canucks Looking to Acquire Pavel Zacha From the Bruins
During tonight's broadcast of Hockey Night in Canada, Friedman confirmed that the Canucks have been trying to pry Zacha out of Boston for months with talks continuing into this week. The Canucks have contacted the Bruins this week about Zacha. I think it's been going on for quite some time. However, with Zacha on a multi-year deal the Canucks would likely need to make a massive offer to convince the Bruins to let Zacha go. Going back to the summer, the Canucks and Bruins have been on and off about this. Zacha has another year on his deal teams are looking for centers. On a positive note, Friedman does not believe the Canucks are on Zacha's no-trade list which makes a deal much easier to complete. One thing about Zacha, I do not believe the Canucks are on his no trade list.

Loading from Twitter ...

Zacha is off to a fantastic start this season with 9 points in 10 games putting him on pace for by far the most points of his career.

Loading from Twitter ...

Loading from Twitter ...

It remains unclear how the move for Reichel impacts the Canucks pursuit of Zacha but if Allvin and the front office could land him it would be a fantastic upgrade to pair with Elias Pettersson.
