The website Heavy.com pitched a trade proposal that would really get the Bruins' rebuild going, and it sees goalie Jeremy Swayman heading to the Oilers. The Boston Bruins were one of the NHL's worst teams last year, yet have insisted they'll be competitive in 2025-26. But assuming they do go about rebuilding, goalie Jeremy Swayman would be their best trade chip, and a proposed blockbuster by 'Heavy.com' sees him heading to Edmonton. Proposed Trade: - To Bruins: Stuart Skinner, Matthew Savoie, Beau Akey, 2028 first-round pick - To Oilers: Jeremy Swayman

Loading from Twitter ...

Loading from Twitter ...

For Edmonton, Jeremy Swayman would be a game-changer addition. The 26-year-old is one of the NHL's elite goaltenders and would provide the Oilers with a legitimate No. 1 goalie, something they've been missing.
The Oilers Would Have Swayman Under Contract for Seven Seasons
He's entering the second year of an eight-year, $66 million contract and would have to sign off on any agreement. He went 22-29-7 with a 3.11 GAA and .892 save percentage last season, but bounced back by helping Team USA capture the 2025 World Championship. Boston, in exchange, would receive Stuart Skinner, who had a rollercoaster season (26-18-4, 2.81 GAA, .896 SV%), to join Joonas Korpisalo between the pipes. They'd receive 2022 No. 9 pick Matthew Savoie, who is a young middle-six forward, and offensive defenseman Beau Akey, who was a 2023 second-rounder, who may break into the NHL at some point. Included in the trade is a 2028 first-rounder, and with all of this, the Bruins would have a solid foundation for a rebuild. All that aside, no trade plans for the Bruins involving Swayman are in the works, according to RG.org's James Murphy. An NHL insider confirmed the Oilers did make a call inquiring about Swayman prior to the draft and free agency, but Boston seemed bent on staying competitive. Even so, if the universe decides to go south early on, the Swayman sweepstakes might become hot pretty quickly, and this trade proposal may end up having some serious merit.
