Former Jet Jack Roslovic has just been linked by Bleacher Report to the Hurricanes, a new rival of Winnipeg after Nikolaj Ehlers recently signed with them. NHL insider Frank Seravalli revealed to Bleacher Report this week that the Carolina Hurricanes still desire to re-sign former Winnipeg Jet and current UFA Jack Roslovic, but don't really have a spot for him right now.

Loading from Twitter ...

This comes after another former Jet, Nikolaj Ehlers, signed there in July during the free agency period, further adding more fuel to this new rivalry. It's been a sluggish market for Jack Roslovic, who's carried the top available UFA mantle for more than a month. There have been whispers of overseas interest from KHL teams, but there has been very little confirmed NHL interest.
Roslovic Matched his Career-High in Goals Last Season With 22
The 28-year-old re-signed with Carolina last July for a one-year, $2.8 million contract and repaid them by matching his career high in goals with 22, a huge turnaround after scoring only nine in 59 games between Columbus and New York in 2023-24. Although Carolina may not complain about adding another middle-six forward with more goal-scoring punch than second-line center Jesperi Kotkaniemi brought, Roslovic isn't playoff-proven. That's because of his deployment: for all his great regular-season production, he was a healthy scratch for the first six playoff games, including the final three of the Eastern Conference Final. He scored one goal and three assists in nine playoff games and saw his average ice time heavily decline from the regular season. Roslovic may not be the needle-mover the Hurricanes presumably want, particularly given that they have well in excess of $10 million of cap space remaining, which they can use on some real star talent. That said, if other NHL options do not materialize, he's an acceptable consolation. Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported this month that Roslovic has several offers on the table but is not feeling pressure to sign.
