William Nylander Fires Jab At Kyle Dubas Over Past Contract Negotiations After Signing New Deal

William Nylander just signed the biggest deal in Maple Leafs history, and now is taking a subtle jab at former GM Kyle Dubas for the way past negotiations went down.

William Nylander Takes Subtle Jab At Dubas in Interview

William Nylander is now one of the top-paid players in all of the NHL, after signing the biggest deal in Toronto Maple Leaf history yesterday. Nylander has been a Leaf his entire career, and this marks his third contract with the club.

During an interview, Nylander discussed the process of signing his blockbuster deal and took a subtle jab at Kyle Dubas and their previous negotiations in the process.

"I'm glad it didn't take as long as the last time" Nylander said.

If you are unfamiliar, Nylander's last negotiations when he became an RFA last time kept him from playing a game until December 1st, the deadline for signing an RFA. The comment, coming unprompted, was obviously a slight at the process that occurred last time under Kyle Dubas.

Nylander All Smiles During Practice and Looks to Maintain Confidence

Nylander was all smiles during practice yesterday after the deal was announced, as you might expect from a guy who just signed a deal worth nearly $100 million. It is this type of confidence, though, that has teammates sure that Nylander will continue his success in Toronto.

John Tavares on William Nylander: "I think he's built to play here."

Nylander will look to impress in his first game after officially announcing the deal tonight against the San Jose Sharks. He currently has 54 points in 37 games, and will look to break 100 points this season for the first time in his career.
