Will Kaiden Guhle be the Best Defender From the 2020 Draft?

The 20-year-old defenseman has been playing against opposing top lineups night in and night out with David Savard, and it has to be said that the young man has been there.

He is often the most used defenseman by Martin St-Louis, despite the fact that he has only eight games of professional experience.

However, he literally acts like a veteran on the ice and his talent in his own zone, as well as in the offensive zone, is obvious.

Even though he has to shoulder a lot of defensive responsibilities, Guhle still managed to score his first career goal and get three points in the process.

It's extremely rare to see a youngster this age, especially for a defenseman, dominate to such an extent, never being protected like the top opposing trios.

There were only two defensemen selected ahead of him, Jake Sanderson and Jamie Drysdale. The first one took some time before arriving in the NHL with the Ottawa Senators, preferring to finish his university career, the other one started quickly in the NHL with the Anaheim Ducks.

Like Guhle, Sanderson plays a much more complete game on the ice. He provides a reassuring presence defensively and is also capable of supporting his team offensively.

Drysdale, on the other hand, is more of an offensive-oriented defenseman, focusing his game primarily on rebounding and supporting the opposing zone. The latter has an advantage over the other two, having already played 112 games and collected 40 points in the process.

Now that Sanderson and Guhle have begun their professional careers, the picture between the three defenders should become much tighter in the years to come.

In the long run, is it possible to believe that the CH's number 21 could become the best defenceman in the draft?
