The Edmonton Oilers will be on the hunt for their next GM, as Ken Holland will be done after this year, and it has been reported that it could be this old rival GM.

Oilers Potentially Looking at Former Canucks GM Mike Gillis

Ken Holland, current General Manager for the Edmonton Oilers, has been pretty transparent that he will not return next year when his contract expires. With how the season is going, I'm not sure he would have the opportunity if he wanted to.
With that, much speculation on who the Oilers' next GM will be has arisen. With Jeff Jackson's recent hiring as President of the Oilers, it is likely he has already started his search. Now, it has become clear that former Canucks GM Mike Gillis has become available for the job.
New Oilers GM?

Gillis spent the last few years with the NHLPA working with player's unions on licensing agreements.

Oilers GM Will Have a Huge Job to Do Coming Into Edmonton

The next Oilers GM will have his work cut out for him, especially if this year continues to go how it has. Both Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl's contracts coming up for renewal, likely to be the highest-paid duo in the NHL, which will be no easy task to get done.
On top of that, the new GM will have to deal with the struggles of this year, tough contracts like Jack Campbell's, and expectation to win in the next 2-3 years, or else be considered a failure.
The more you sit back & think about Ken Hollands tenure as Oilers GM the worse it gets.

The last two years I think have made people step back a bit but we should have a few cups by now

When you look at it like this, it might be more difficult to recruit a GM to the position than previously thought.
